Ningbo Hangzhou Bay National Wetland Park

  Ningbo Hangzhou Bay Wetland is located in the west of Hangzhou Bay Bridge, with a total area of 63.8 square kilometers and is among the three sections of the general planning. It is the key ecological protection zone. Hangzhou Bay Wetland belongs to typical coastal wetland ecosystem, in which there are various types of wetland, including tidal flats, offshore sandbar and pond reclaimed wetland, among which Andong tidal flats is included in the list of important wetlands in China. As it is located in the intersection of river and sea, a large number of wetland water birds inhabit there, where is an important station of migratory route in the Eastern Asian, one of the important wintering grounds and transformation place of the endangered species of Saunders Gull and Black-faced Spoonbill as well as one of the place in eastern mainland coast with most abundant water birds in winter.

  In 2005, Hangzhou Bay Wetland was funded with "East Asian Marine Ecosystem Pollution-reduction Investment Fund" of $5 million by Global Environment Fund and the World Bank. The project covers the recovery of freshwater marshes of 5000 mu (A1 block) recovery, protection of 40 square kilometers of intertidal wetland and the construction of environmental education center. On June 18, 2010, invested with about 140 million yuan, the first phase of wetlands project 5000 mu officially opened to the public. After the protective development in recent years, Hangzhou Bay Wetland has attracted more and more rare birds with its original ecological natural landscape, becoming a paradise of birds and a leisure resort. In December 2011, with the concern and support of Provincial Forestry Department and Municipal Forestry Administration, Hangzhou Bay Wetland Park was formally entitled as a national wetland park approved by the State Forestry Administration. In May 2013, the first theme museum of migratory bird was opened to the public. In 2014, projects of fish displaying hall, moose hall, aquatic forest and international fishing center have been constructed and opened to the public. By 2014, the project investment was 250 million yuan and the kinds of wetland birds rose from more than 50 before protection to 220 at present.

  Investment of 200 million yuan will be invested in the future to construct an practice base of adolescents themed at environmental education for adolescents combining with demonstration comprehensive practice, which has distinctive characteristics and influential in the country. The base covers an area of about 118 mu with a building area of 20000 square meters. It is divided into green living section, science and art center, field exploration section, water section and summer (winter) camp, integrating wetland protection, knowledge, after-school education and tourism and fully meeting the requirements of education for young students in study and practice, further enhancing the level of education.
